Dr. Sands came to Truett from the religion department at Baylor University. Prior to that, he was Assistant Professor of Philosophy of Religion at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. His articles and reviews have appeared in Perspectives in Religious Studies, Downside Review, and Christian Scholar's Review. His first book, The Justification of Religious Faith in Søren Kierkegaard, John Henry Newman, and William James, was published by Gorgias Press in 2004. A new book on crucial facets of Christian faith is forthcoming. Currently, Dr. Sands is doing research on the doctrine of sin.
Dr. Sands frequently preaches in churches throughout Texas and has served as pastor or interim pastor of six congregations. He has been married for 28 years to Linda Smith Sands, and is the proud father of three daughters: Kristin, Allison, and Lauren.
